Review_deborah

Today I want express my opinion about the famous books saga of Lisa Jane Smith : The Vampire Diares. I became curious after I saw the tv series, and a day I decided to buy the books. I'm going to make comments about the first book: '' The Awakening''.

The cover is black and there are three roses ( like the blood) , the pages are pale yellow with many drops of blood. When I took for the first time the book in my hands I was really enchanted by its misteriosity.

The protaginist called Elena , a beautiful orphan girl , that she was in love with two brothers : Stefan and Damon . They had a secret . They were vampires. It's a story wrapped in mistery ,where there are lots of flashback about the Salvatore human life.

I guess that if a reader start to read this book , is going to love it. Lisa Jane Smith transport you in a mystic world. There are suspense , a complicate love and a family to save .It isn't a big book with hundred of pages , so everyone can read it in short time. I suggest to all the vampires fan to buying it.

Deborah.

  1. This review is a good piece of work which is well organised into suitable paragraphs and the language and content are relevant. Well done.

    My "points to consider" are:
It's a good idea to put a title for a review - i.e. the name of the book or other item you are reviewing.

I'm sorry to say that I haven't (yet) read these books (Oops!!) but how many are there? "Books saga" doesn't really work (and anyway it would be "book saga". Possibly "series" would do, but if there were 3 you could say trilogy. That's why I asked how many there were.

A book is BY someone, not "of".

    One diary, two diaries.

"One day" rather than "a day".

"... and there are three red roses (like blood)"

"the pages are yellow with a lot of drops of blood scattered over them.

Word order - "When I took the book in my hands for the first time I was really enchanted by its mystery.

(Will continue a little later. Have to get off a train!!)

Or you could say "by its sense of mystery."

Rather than protagonist, we would say "main character" or "heroine." Also, a better word order would be, "The heroine,a beautiful orphan-girl called Elena, is in love with two ...."

To talk about a book, film etc you usually use the present tense, because what you say is true every time the person reads/sees it. So, "they have a mystery - they are vampires!"

    Spelling - mystery

    Flashbacks (plural)

Not sure what you mean by "the Salvatore human life???"

"I guess" really means "I suppose" whereas here I think "I think" or "I feel sure" would fit better. Careful - "starts" with 3rd person s, the subject "s/he" is missing (who is going to love it?), "transports" (3rd person s), you transport someone to ...(a world)".

I actually think the singular verb "is" works better than "are" in your list, i.e. "There is suspense, a complicated love...etc".

    "Complicated" with d

"with only a hundred pages". It sounds better with "only" and you don't need the "of"

    "in a short time"

"I suggest all vampire fans should buy it!"

I know this probably seems like a long list but they're mostly little things which may well have only been typing errors, or points which are not wrong but where the style is perhaps a little awkward. In general it's actually a GOOD review and fully tackles the question. You could POSSIBLY add a little more detail about your own opinions about the book since it is a review and therefore requires your judgement, but you have made it clear what you think so you have answered the question.

    Well done!

  3. Hi Sherida , thank you for your comments ; They were really useful for me. I've started this course only this year so my english is very elementary but I hope I'll be a good student in the future. With this article I wanted to express myself . I really love this book saga and there are eight books . Salvatore are two brothers that love Elena (the heroine). I take this opportunity for wish you HAPPY EASTER !
