A competition entry_Caroline

Hero and Heroines at work: we are planning a series of profiles of people who have shown great bravery at work. Who could you nominate to be included in the series? Write to us, describing this person's achievements, and give two reasons why you believe he or she should be included in our series.

To whom it may concern

I am writing a response to your "Hero and Heroines at work" competition announcement. The person I would firmly nominate is Pierre Thibault. I do not know his personally, but I have read on a newspaper about his adventure.

He is 85 years old and he is in his retirement, of course! On one normal day, he went to the post office to handle his personal duties. While he was waiting in the queue, suddenly a masked man burst in and threatened everybody. He commanded to lie on the floor. Naturally, for and elder man like Pierre, It was extremely hard to lie quickly on the floor. The thief saw him and started coming towards him.. Pierre turned around and succeeded in knocking the gun out of the man's hand by using his walking stick. Immediately the other customers blocked the man and held him until the arrival of the police.

My main reason for nominating him is that he had an incredible courage to cope with the dangerous situation, despite his age. If I were him, I would not be as brave as he was.

My second reason for choosing him is that he was prompt to defend everyone. In my opinion he is one of that person that you should consider a hero, not only for his courage, but also because he showed that everyone could make a difference in each one lives.

Yours faithfully,

Carolina Lospinoso.
