TO BE (FAMOUS) OR NOT TO BE?
Nowadays, conquering popularity seems to be every teenager’s secret wish. Thanks to their incredible persuasive power, mass medias have been convincing teenagers of the past two generations that after reaching popularity, everything once you couldn’t even dream about, becomes possible. Mass media have deceived us all so much that now we are persuaded that being famous is a sure warranty of happiness; and despite all the tragedies involving famous people, just few of us change their minds.
Obviously, I am not claiming there are bright sides in being a celebrity: first of all the jobs that make you famous are usually the best paid and, being honest, who has never dreamt about gaining plenty of money? In addition, if you were famous, there would be a flood of people adoring you, who might do the craziest things just to see you once in a lifetime. Moreover, your memory would last not forever, but almost and your life would be definitely unordinary.
On the other hand, there are such drawbacks that make you doubt whether it is worth while or not. For example, as soon as you reach popularity, you loose all your privacy, independence and tranquillity; your life becomes stressful, dreadful, I’d daresay, because of the merciless and cruel system you find yourself in.
However, on my own opinion, one way to enjoy some of popularity’s bright sides without worrying about its drawbacks exists: being successful but not so well-known. That’s the key for happiness: having success in what you really like. And who cares about how many people know your name?

  1. Nowadays, conquering (achieving?) popularity seems to be every teenager’s secret wish. Thanks to their incredible persuasive power, the mass media have been convincing teenagers of the past two generations that by gaining popularity, everything you once couldn’t even dream about, becomes possible. The mass media have deceived us all so much that now we are persuaded that being famous is a sure guarantee of happiness; and despite all the tragedies involving famous people, very few of us change our minds.

For example, as soon as you reach popularity, you lose all your privacy, independence and tranquility; your life becomes stressful, and even I’d daresay, dreadful, because of the merciless and cruel system you find yourself caught up in.
However, in my opinion, one way to enjoy some of popularity’s bright sides without worrying about its drawbacks do exist: being successful but not so well-known. That’s the key to happiness: having success in what you really like. And who cares about how many people know your name?
